Here's why I love this study:
1. It's holidayish without being holidayish! This is good because our school is incredibly diverse. That means if we teach one holiday, we have to teach them all. That's very time consuming, especially when you're knee deep in adjusting everything to the Common Core Standards.
2. We get to have a feast on the last day before break where we sample all of the runaway food items. And who doesn't love a feast!?
What's even more exciting, is that this unit is already aligned with the new Common Core Standards. Can I get an, 'Amen'?
Here's the standard:
2nd grade literature: Compare and contrast two or more versions
of the same story by different authors or from different cultures.
Woot woot!! :) This year, I've created a great product with the graphic organizers needed to complete this unit of study AND it includes gingerbread math and literacy centers for fun!
Place Value Center
I store everything in a gallon-size zipper baggie!
Making 10, 100, 1,000 dice games (3 versions!) for building number sense.
Noun, Verb, Adjective Sort
Synonym sort -- synonyms for run and eat
Compound Word puzzles
I can't wait to get started tomorrow on this great unit!
And I'm so excited, I'm going to give away TWO in the next 24 hours!! Oh yeah!!
Plus each lucky winner can choose one other item from my store! That's two products for you! Who's in?
